Choosing an electric midtail bike

A midtail is the ideal compromise for one child and a Brussels flat: it parks like a regular bike, some models fit in a lift, and it still carries a passenger or a big shop.

Midtail or longtail?

With one child or medium loads, a midtail is enough and easier to store. With two children, or a growing family, a longtail offers more room.

A bike for the whole family

Most midtails have tool-free adjustable cockpits, so one bike can be shared by two adults of different heights.

What really matters

Number of passengers: one or two children, seats or bench, grab bars and footrests.
Adjustability: a frame that adjusts to several riders if the bike is shared within the family.
Motor and battery: strong assistance for uphill starts with a load, and a range that suits your trips.
Footprint: length and upright storage for your cellar or lift.

What budget should you plan?

In this category our bikes range from about €2,999 to €6,699, depending on brand, frame and equipment. Bike leasing and financing let you spread the cost.
