Choosing a folding bike

A folding bike is the answer for mixed commutes: train into Brussels, then a few kilometres to the office. It fits under a desk and never has to be parked on the street.

With or without assistance?

A classic folding bike is the lightest to carry. An electric one smooths out hills and longer trips, for a few extra kilos.

Brompton or Tern?

A Brompton folds the smallest and is easy to carry. Tern folders have slightly larger wheels and ride much like a regular bike.

What really matters

Weight: decisive if you carry the bike up stairs or onto public transport.
Folded size: check it for the train, the car boot or under your desk.
Hills and distance: beyond a few kilometres or with hills, assistance makes the difference.

What budget should you plan?

In this category our bikes range from about €1,749 to €6,999, depending on brand, frame and equipment. Bike leasing and financing let you spread the cost.
