Choosing an electric folding bike

An electric folding bike must stay light enough to carry and compact enough to travel with, while giving enough assistance for the Brussels hills.

Brompton or Tern?

The Brompton Electric is the most compact when folded, perfect for the train. Tern’s electric models have bigger wheels and comfort close to a city bike.

The battery

On the Brompton, the battery is carried separately in a bag, making the bike lighter to lift. On Tern models it sits in the frame or on the rack.

What really matters

Weight: worth checking if you carry the bike up stairs or through stations.
Folding: speed and folded size for the train or the car boot.
Range: suited to your trips between the station and your destination.
Comfort: wheel size and position for cobbles.

What budget should you plan?

In this category our bikes range from about €3,450 to €6,999, depending on brand, motor and equipment. Bike leasing and financing let you spread the cost.
