Built for heavy loads
The HSD carries heavy loads without feeling heavy to ride. Its stiffer frame reduces flex, and its optimised geometry, longer wheelbase and lower centre of gravity keep it stable, even when loaded. Although it is shorter than a regular bike, it carries up to 190 kg, including 80 kg on the rear rack.

They all share the same frame, the same 190 kg capacity and a 545 Wh Bosch battery. The P5i has a Shimano 5-speed hub with a belt, the P10e an automatic derailleur, the P00 an Enviolo stepless hub with a belt. The S9i, the most complete, adds the 90 Nm Bosch Performance Line PX motor, a 9-speed hub, the Kiox 300 display and a suspension seatpost.
How many passengers can a Tern HSD carry?
The HSD Gen 3 carries one passenger on the back: a child, from toddler to teenager, or an adult. Its rear rack takes up to 80 kg, for a total load capacity of 190 kg.
Tern HSD or GSD: which should you choose?
The HSD is the most compact, shorter than a regular bike, and carries one passenger. The GSD is slightly longer and carries up to two children, with a total load capacity of 210 kg. If you need to carry two children, the GSD is the better fit.
Can you store a Tern HSD in an apartment?
Yes. The HSD stores upright, can be rolled on end along a hallway or into a lift, and its Physis stem folds flat in seconds without tools.
