Is a 20-inch bike right for your child?

The guide age of 6 to 8 is only a reference point: your child’s height and inseam matter more. Ideally, come and try in store and we will check the right saddle height with you.

Growing with the bike

A bike that is too big is scary, one that is too small is tiring. Choose a size where the child can touch the ground, with an adjustable saddle that grows with them.

What comes next?

After 20 inches comes the 24-inch bike, with more gears for family rides.

What really matters

Size before age: the child should reach the ground while seated; inseam matters more than age.
Weight: a light bike is easier to control and makes riding fun.
Brakes: levers sized for small hands.
Safety: helmet, lights and bell for riding in town.

What budget should you plan?

In this category our bikes range from about €480 to €639, depending on brand, frame and equipment. A light, well-made bike lasts for years and can be handed down from one child to the next.

Our guide: which bike size for which age?
