Which bike size for your child?

As a guide: balance bike and 12-inch from 1.5 to 3.5 years, 14-inch from 3 to 4.5, 16-inch from 4 to 6, 20-inch from 6 to 8, 24-inch from 7 to 11 and 26-inch from 10 to 14. Your child’s height remains the best guide, so come and try in store.

Why a light bike?

A kids’ bike can weigh half as much as the child. A light model like Woom is easier to steer, brake and pick up, so children progress faster and more safely.

Start with a balance bike

A balance bike teaches balance without stabilisers. Most children then move on to a pedal bike without training wheels, often from age 3 or 4.

What really matters

Size before age: the child should reach the ground while seated; inseam matters more than age.
Weight: a light bike is easier to control and makes riding fun.
Brakes: levers sized for small hands.
Safety: helmet, lights and bell for riding in town.

What budget should you plan?

In this category our bikes range from about €189 to €1,099, depending on brand, frame and equipment. A light, well-made bike lasts for years and can be handed down from one child to the next.

Frequently asked questions

No, we advise against them. After a balance bike, children already master balance and move straight to a pedal bike.
